Singer-turned-actress Saru Maini has bagged a Hollywood crossover movie for her acting debut. Saru will soon be seen in the movie 5 Weddings directed by Namrata Singh Gujral featuring talented Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao and Nargis Fakhri.
In an interview, she spoke about her character in the movie, which is quite the same as she is in real life. Saru plays a singer, who performs at weddings and even writes her songs.
“I used to sing at my friends’ sangeet ceremonies. I would change the lyrics and the tunes of Punjabi folk songs and perform on them for which I was really popular. That’s exactly what my role turned out to be in ‘5 Weddings’. I play a singer in the film who performs at weddings and I have actually sung these songs. One of the promotional songs ‘Laung Gawacha’ is based on Punjabi folk music and you’ll be watching it on TV, courtesy T Series,” Saru said.
Being comfortable and her love for the entertainment industry is the thing that makes her an achiever.
