Salman Khan reacted to Vivek Oberoi's ‘tasteless’ tweet which he shared yesterday (May 20)
Mumbai: Vivek Oberoi, who apologised for sharing a meme which poked fun at Aishwarya Rai Bachchan‘s relationships, did not see the end of the issue yet when actor Salman Khan commented on the ongoing ‘tasteless’ meme controversy. Salman’s comments came at a promotional event for his upcoming movie Bharat.
Salman said, "Main dhyan hi nahi deta. Pehle jaisa tweet hi nahi karta, toh memes kya dekhunga. Main kaam karoon ya comments dekhoon. Main bilkul dhyan nahi deta. (I don't pay attention. When I don't tweet like before, how will I see all these memes? Should I work or see such comments? I don't pay attention to all these at all)."
Yesterday, Vivek took to his Twitter account and shared a tweet that targeted Aishwarya Rai's personal life. This distasteful tweet received a lot of negative response from celebs and others. According to reports, the National Commission for Women and the Maharashtra State Commission for Women have also issued notices to Vivek, seeking explanation regarding the same. The actor deleted the tweet, apologised and expressed that he never meant to hurt any women.
Sometimes what appears to be funny and harmless at first glance to one, may not be so to others. I have spent the last 10 years empowering more than 2000 underprivileged girls, I cant even think of being disrespectful to any woman ever.
— Vivek Anand Oberoi (@vivekoberoi)Even if one woman is offended by my reply to the meme, it calls for remedial action. Apologies🙏🏻 tweet deleted.
— Vivek Anand Oberoi (@vivekoberoi)The meme shared by Vivek made references to Aishwarya’s past, showed pictures of the actress with three actors, and termed Aishwarya with Salman Khan as "opinion poll", with Vivek Oberoi as "exit poll" and with Abhishek Bachchan and Aaradhya as "result".
The Bachchan family has remained silent on the whole issue.
