Netflix has officially greenlit the hit series Sacred Games for the second season.

The thriller series, based on author Vikram Chandra's novel of the same name, features Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Saif Ali Khan in the lead. Directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane, the first season of the series premiered on Netflix on July 6.

Though the release date of the second season is not yet disclosed, it will pick up from Sartaj Singh (Saif Ali Khan) pursuing his relentless battle of saving the city and Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) facing bigger challenges to retain his position as the legendary kingpin of Mumbai.

The teaser was shared on the official Twitter handle of Netflix India. It is a45-second video in which not much is shown, but a lot has been said cryptically. It shows a Mandala spinning around, which is from the previous season. The spinning is followed by a voice-over from several characters. "Do you believe in God," says, Ganesh Gaikonde, who lost his life in the first season, but appears in flashes to narrate his own story. Voices of Saif Ali Khan can also be heard with other characters.

The teaser ends with the Mandala spinning showcasing the number two in Devanagari style. The first season showed Ganesh Gaikonde's squabble with Saif Ali Khan's character, Sartaj, who had been given 25 days to hunt Ganesh and still has 14 days left for his mission. The plot also includes Pankaj Tripathi's character of an enigmatic Godman, who is believed to have a prominent role in the coming episodes.
