Payal Kapadia's All We Imagine as Light shines at New York Film Critics Circle, wins Best International Film

Payal Kapadia's 'All We Imagine as Light' has won Best International Film at the New York Film Critics Circle and Best International Feature at the Gotham Awards 2024. 

Filmmaker Payal Kapadia's ‘All We Imagine as Light' has clinched the Best International Film award at the New York Film Critics Circle, just a day after winning the Best International Feature trophy at the Gotham Awards 2024. It was released in Indian theatres on November 22, where it has been warmly received by both critics and audiences alike.

The 90th NYFCC members include Indiewire's David Ehlrich (2024 vice chair) and Kate Erbland, New York Magazine's Alison Wilmore and Bilge Ebiri, The Atlantic's David Sims (2024 chair), and Time's Stephanie Zacharek.

Earlier this year, Payal Kapadia made history at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival as her film won the prestigious Grand Prix award. 

‘All We Imagine as Light’ tells the story of Prabha, a nurse whose life takes an unexpected turn when she receives a surprise gift from her estranged husband. At the same time, her young roommate, Anu, faces the complexities of trying to find intimacy with her boyfriend in the chaos of city life. The narrative takes an evocative twist when the two women embark on a road trip to a coastal town, where a mystical forest becomes a place for their dreams to come alive.

Starring Kani Kusruti, Chhaya Kadam, and Divya Prabha, ‘All We Imagine as Light’ reflects on themes of resilience, connection, and the strength of human relationships.
