The two actresses will play mother and daughter in Ram Kamal Mukherjee’s Season's Greetings which is a tribute to the late Bengali filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh
After directing Esha Deol Takhtani in Cakewalk, author turned filmmaker Ram Kamal Mukherjee will be seen directing his second Hindi film Season's Greetings. This 30-minute short feature is a tribute to 12 times National Award winning director, the late Rituparno Ghosh. The film will feature Paoli Dam of Hate Story fame and veteran theatre artist Lillette. Story penned by Ranjib Mazumder, the film revolves around a mother and daughter relationship. Yesterday was Ghosh's 55th birth anniversary (August 31) and the makers decided to launch it today (September 1). The film will be co-directed by Abhra Chakraborty along with Mukherjee and introduce Pune-based model turned actor Azhar Khan as the male protagonist in the film. The film will be shot extensively in Kolkata after Durga Puja in October.
Ram Kamal Mukherjee says, "Rituparno’s birth anniversary was yesterday and my movie is a special tribute to him which I cannot reveal right now. All I can say is that it’s not a remake or biopic but a new kind of a tribute, based on his movies, which you will get to see once you watch the movie. I am extremely happy that two powerhouse talents have agreed to be a part of my film. Paoli will be playing the role of daughter, while Lillette mam (Dubey) will be seen playing the role of her mother. Unfortunately Paoli's talent as an actress was never showcased in Bollywood. She is majorly perceived as glam quotient, but she is an extremely talented actor. I am sure this film will change everyone's opinion.”
Paoli Dam while talking about Season's Greetings adds, “When Ram Kamal narrated me the story, I could see the subtle reference of Rituda in the film. It's something unique that he is trying to do. I can't reveal much about the plot, but I can ensure that people will love the narrative. I have worked with Rituda in Shob Charitro Kalponik, and he would always encourage me. I am glad that Ram Kamal is paying a tribute to him, which I think is a much deserving one.”
Lillette Dubey says, “I met Ram Kamal recently in Dubai at an awards function where he approached me for this role in Season's Greetings. I told him that during the shooting of Sonata, Rinadi (Aparna Sen) had often spoken about Rituparno with great affection. I have seen a few of his (Rituparno) films and whenever we bumped into each other, he would tell me that 'we must work together in a film soon!' Unfortunately that never happened. I know Ram Kamal as an author and journalist, but when he narrated the screenplay to me, I found the story very interesting and I felt that he would be able to tell the story in an exciting and visual manner.”
