The actor had taken to Twitter to express her support with the Indian Armed Forces. The move seemed to have irked her fans in Pakistan.
New Delhi: In light of the recent Pulwama terror attack and the ensuing action taken by India against terror outfits in Pakistan, the nation has been tweeting up a storm to express support and opinions on the situation.
Many in Bollywood, including actor Priyanka Chopra, took to social media to express solidarity with the Indian defence forces and even helped the families of the martyrs monetarily. PeeCee tweeted her support to armed forces simply saying, 'Jai Hind' and her tweet invited the wrath of trolls.
Hailing from an army background, with both her parent serving as physicians in the Indian Army, Chopra has often spoken fondly of her childhood days in the cantonment.
Jai Hind 🇮🇳 🙏🏽

Author Atif Tauqeer also commented on her tweet saying, "Are or were you really Unicef goodwill ambassador? I really don’t know how an artist can praise military actions and especially while being an ambassador of UN. I don’t think this world could ever see peace when peacemakers love wars."
Now, an online petition has been filed on Avaaz.org tagging UN and the UNICEF, saying - "War between two nuclear powers can only lead to destruction & death. As goodwill ambassador of UNICEF, Priyanka Chopra was supposed to stay neutral & peaceful but her tweet in favour of Indian arm forces after they invaded Pakistan airspace shows otherwise. She doesn’t deserve this title anymore."

The actor is yet to respond to the controversy. However, her Indian fans have jumped to her defence. One commenter wrote - "The term Jai hind was used widely by the Indian national army. All armies of the world are armed so there is nothing wrong with it. Jai Hind was also shown in K3G! It means peace to India. That's all, no one wants war."
