In an event, Kapil Sharma said the focus of the nation should be on the genuine problem and not on misleading hashtags like '#BoycottSidhu' or '#BoycottKapilSharmaShow'

Since last weekend, Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu is grabbing headlines over his comments on the Pulwama terror attack. He was also heavily trolled on social media and hashtags like '#BoycottSidhu' or #BoycottKapilSharmaShow' began trending on Twitter.

Last night, Kapil Sharma opened up about the whole event in Chandigarh, where he was attending an Art of Living event as part of a Drug-Free India campaign. He said, "Sacking him (Sidhu) is not the solution."

In an interview with Zee News, Sharma said, "Navjot Singh Sidhu is busy with his prior commitments due to which Archana Puran Singh is shooting with us. These are very small things or can also be a part of propaganda. I feel banning someone or sacking Navjot Singh Sidhu from the show (The Kapil Sharma Show) is not the solution. We need to look for a permanent solution."

"We are with the government, but still we need a permanent solution. The cowardly act in Pulwama that killed our soldiers shouldn't be forgotten and the culprits should be punished," he added.

On being asked if any action will be taken against Sidhu for his comments, Kapil said, “I am not the producer of the show this time, so it will be channel’s decision.”

As soon as the above interview was broadcast, thousands of social media users started another hashtag - #BoycottKapilSharma and #UnsubscribeSonyTV - and within a few minutes, these were trending on Twitter.

A few days ago, we saw multiple reports stating that Sidhu has been sacked from The Kapil Sharma Show and that Archana Puran Singh has replaced him.

Now, Kapil has said that Sidhu has no official intimation about his removal from the show.

Coming to Sidhu's comment:

Last week, Sidhu said that nations cannot be held responsible “for the dastardly acts of terrorists” and that terrorists have no religion. He also added, “There are good, the bad and the ugly. Every institution has them. Every nation has them. The ugly need to be punished. But individuals cannot be blamed for the dastardly act.”
