YS Sharmila complained to Hyderabad Police regarding social media posts linking her to Telugu actor Prabhas

Hyderabad: Jagan Mohan Reddy's sister YS Sharmila, who is also a leader of YSR Congress, has lashed out against social media trolls. Sharmila called on police commissioner Anjani Kumar to complain about those posting objectionable material on social media linking her to Bahubali actor Prabhas.

According to reports, Sharmila along with her husband Anil Kumar rubbished the false propaganda linking her with Prabhas and said that it was a conspiracy by the vested interests to defame her ahead of the general elections to get political mileage.

Sharmila accused the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of masterminding the campaign. "Such false propaganda had started before the 2014 elections and has swung back with elections fast approaching now. I have sought proper action against those carrying out the character assassination. I strongly believe that TDP is behind spreading the rumour as is its wont," she said.

She also said that she has never met Prabhas nor had ever spoken to him. "Being a mother, wife and person with family bond, it hurts when such slanderous campaign is carried out. If I do not react, my silence may lead to some unpleasant conclusions which is the reason why I lodged the complaint seeking action," she added.

She further sought criminal action against those who are involved in spreading rumours alleging her affair with Prabhas. Sharmila added that the commissioner has assured that action would be taken against the culprits.

The cybercrime station’s special team, led by Additional DCP Raghuveer, will investigate the case.
