The Telugu film industry saw a boom at the box office this year
Telangana/Andhra Pradesh: Tollywood had prominent box office hits this year. Out of all the productions, three movies stood out as all-time blockbusters at the box office. These include Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam, Mahesh Babu’s Bharat Ane Nenu and Jr NTR’s Aravinda Sametha.
Let’s take a closer look at the three:
Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam: The film has set a groundbreaking record for the Telugu industry not only in terms of its domestic market success, but also for the global success it received. It was directed by Sukumar and received a worldwide distribution share of close to Rs 120 crore; positioning it as third amidst all-time highest grossing films. Ram Charan received a lot of recognition and acknowledgment for his role as a deaf person in the movie. Samantha plays the role of his love interest in the movie.
Mahesh Babu’s Bharat Ane Nenu: The film crossed all expectations with a sweeping gross figure of Rs 149.5 crores. It also set an all-time record with its Tamil version at the Chennai box office. It is Babu’s highest-ever revenue for a film. He played the role of a chief minister trying to tackle corruption in the system. Fans all over loved his role as a politician in the movie. The movie was directed by Koratala Siva.
Jr NTR’s Aravinda Sametha: A film that was made during the most difficult phase of Jr NTR as his father passed away in a road accident, half way through the making of the movie. Jr NTR made sure that his loss would not affect the film crew and went to shoot without a break. Though the film was an action entertainment where his role was to stop violence in the village, he also gave a very important social message regarding road safety through his movie. The film was directed by Trivikram Srinivas and made a humongous collection of Rs 158.6 crores.
All in all, the three actors had a superb year and are working on their upcoming releases slated for next year - Charan’s Vinaya Vidhya Rama, Mahesh's Maharshi and Jr NTR's RRR.
