The teaser for Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh's Gully Boy was released today announcing January 9 as the trailer launch and featured a rap performance by Ranveer
Mumbai: Two days after releasing the first look posters of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy, the makers of the film have dropped a trailer announcement video.
The one and a half minute video will give you a glimpse into the Zoya Akhtar directorial which also features talented Kalki Koechlin who plays a pivotal role in the movie. But more than that, it is Ranveer Singh's fire rap game that has everyone gushing.
The film, based on the life of street rappers of Mumbai such as Rapper Divine and Naezy seems quite intriguing. Ranveer announced the date of trailer release in an interesting way with a rap song Asli Hip Hop as the voice over while showing snippets from the film.
Several celebrities have reacted to the song filmmaker Karan Johar wrote, "I love love love this!!!!!!! Zoya you star!!!!! Can’t wait to see #GullyBoy," Arjun Kapoor, who is Ranveer close friend and relative wrote, "Asli talent ki vulcano #ZoyaAkhtar with apna dil ka raja @RanveerOfficial & mini meryll @aliaa08 produced by the Maverick trendsetters @FarOutAkhtar & @ritesh_sid cannot wait for Valentines Day cause it’s a date with #GullyBoy !!!"
Ranveer’s close friend and actor Arjun Kapoor also commented on the teaser and tweeted, “Asli talent ki vulcano #ZoyaAkhtar with apna dil ka raja @RanveerOfficial & mini meryll @aliaa08 produced by the Maverick trendsetters @FarOutAkhtar & @ritesh_sid cannot wait for Valentines Day cause it’s a date with #GullyBoy !!!”
Meanwhile, his wife, actor Deepika Padukone also posted a sweet message for the teaser video writing, “Ranveer Singh you are unstoppable! I love you and I am so proud of you.”

Gully Boy is partially inspired by the journey of Rapper Divine, who earlier told PTI that he's looking forward to the film's release. Divine had said, "The film is inspired by the Mumbai hip-hop community and it's amazing how far we have come in the last few years. With this film, it seems the journey has only begun." Rapper Raja Kumari, who has twice collaborated with Divine (City Slums and Roots), liked the announcement video and commented: "Goosebumps."
Gully Boy also stars actor-rapper Chaitanya Sharma (better known as SlowCheetah) and it will open in cinemas on February 14.
