After Aamir Khan, another Bollywood star, Ranveer Singh, found himself embroiled in controversy as a fake AI-generated video surfaced, purportedly showing him endorsing a political party ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Ranveer Singh, along with actress Kriti Sanon, had recently graced the ramp as showstoppers for designer Manish Malhotra's fashion presentation at Varanasi's Namo Ghat. Before the event, the duo visited the revered Vishwanath temple, where they engaged in discussions about their spiritual experiences, adding a touch of cultural significance to their visit.

The emergence of the AI-generated political endorsement video comes in the wake of a similar incident involving Aamir Khan, who also fell victim to deepfake technology. Mumbai Police have taken action in response to these incidents, filing FIRs against unnamed individuals connected to the creation and dissemination of these manipulated videos. The FIR against the deepfake video featuring Aamir Khan was lodged at the Khar police station, following a complaint from the actor's office. The complaint cited relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 419 (impersonation) and 420 (cheating), along with provisions of the Information Technology Act.
