The Buy U A Drank rapper's track, That's Yo Money, has been blocked on YouTube following the allegations
Mumbai: While East has always been accused of copying the West, the table seems to have turned. American rapper T-Pain's 'surprise' song left many of his Indian fans rather shocked.
The rapper recently dropped a song titled That's Yo Money that featured a recurring flute tune that sounds eerily similar to a hit 2013 Indian song, Tum Hi Ho. Following the plagiarism claim, the song, which was released on December 13, was taken down from YouTube, after T-Series, who own the rights to 'Tum Hi Ho' complained of copyright infringement.
However, the song is still available in a few other independent channels.
Mohit Suri, who directed Aashiqui 2 that featured the track, also took to Twitter to inform his team saying- Dunno why but this seems familiar 🙈🙈🙈 #aashiqui2 #tumhiho @TPAIN https://youtu.be/XWdVt-wiuSk . It’s a melody from Mithun’s song buddy @Mithoon11 @raiisonai @itsBhushanKumar
Meanwhile, Indian composer Mithoon also tweeted to the American singer pointing the obvious.
Sir, the melody that you have used in your new song is my original work for a previously released Hindi film..The Label is looking into this. https://t.co/5fnDf4sfg7
