After a long wait, Boney Kapoor and late Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor is making her debut in the Hindi film industry with Dhadak; the film, an adaptation of Marathi superhit Sairat, will reach the cinemas on 20 July
The shooting for the film got over a while ago and the post-production is on its way to completion. The official trailer was launched on Monday, 11 June, by the co-producer of the movie, Karan Johar.
In the trailer, Janhvi is looking pretty just like her mother — big eyes and the same smile. With the movie, her career has kickstarted, carrying forward the legacy of her veteran mother. Ishaan also impressed everyone with his performance and boyish charm.
The first scene of the trailer reminds you of your first love. The treatment of the movie also looks fresh and the background will support the story very well. The film has been directed by Shashank Khaitan, who has given us hits like Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Humpty Sharma. So, we know that Dhadak is in good hands. The movie is colourful, given that it is based in Rajasthan.
After telling us stories from the heartlands of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh in his previous films, Shashank seems to have done justice to a Rajasthani backdrop as well. The cinematography draws attention, too. The song "Zingat" that plays at the end of the trailer is impressive.
During the launch of the trailer, Anil Kapoor and Harshvadhan Kapoor join Karan Johar to root for Janhvi’s first trailer launch. During the press meet, Janhvi shares the most helpful tip by Sridevi: "To 'work hard and feel every emotion' and I think I have tried to do that." She wore a parrot green Anarkali suit and on the other hand her hero Ishaan was seen in red jacket pairing up with blue jeans.
However, netizens have started comparing the movie with the original one, Sairat, and saying it is a bad copy of the movie. Most of them are not impressed with Janhvi's acting skills, but they loved and appreciated Ishaan in the trailer. Some said they could smell "nepotism".
To the uninitiated, Dhadak is the official Hindi remake of Marathi love saga Sairat and it is all set to release on 20 July.
