Eat, sleep, breathe cricket? Selection Day trailer will bowl you over

Based on a novel by Aravind Adiga, of The White Tiger fame, the Netflix series is all about cricket- the good, bad and ugly

Mumbai: For a nation where cricket is religion, you have two extremist factions - those who love it and those who hate it. For everybody else, there's Selection Day for their viewing pleasure. Based on a novel by author Aravind Adiga, Selection Day, is coming soon as a Netflix series. 

The trailer for the series dropped today and the series will premiere on the streaming giant on December 28. The plot revolves around fourteen-year-old Manju who is destined for cricket greatness but hates cricket. However, his overbearing and cricket-obsessed father has other plans for Manju and his older brother and fellow cricket star, Radha.

The cast includes newcomers Yash Dholye and Mohammad Samad as brothers Radha and Manju. Veteran actors Mahesh Manjrekar, Ratna Pathak Shah and Rajesh Tailang are also a part of the flick.

Producer Anil Kapoor is kicked about the latest series and said, “With Selection Day, Netflix is once again bringing Indian talent onto the world stage. India is a land rich with stories and we can now share these across the globe. I can't think of a better way of bringing people together.” While co-producer Anand Tucker feels that 'audiences from Minnesota to Mombasa to Mumbai will all love this show.'
