Mumbai: Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth’s 2.0 has hit theatres today in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. While fans of both the superstars have started flocking theatres to watch India’s most expensive 3D film made till date (reportedly made with a budget of Rs 543 crore), the film’s box office fate will be decided over the opening weekend. Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar who plays a baddie in the film opened up to My Nation about the movie and its message, his experience of shooting with Rajinikanth and more.

Revealing his experience of working with the south superstar, Akshay said, “We used to talk in Marathi while shooting the film. He is a Maharashtrian and speaks Marathi. I can also speak Marathi. So, we used to enjoy talking in Marathi. He is a great man. He would turn any normal dialogue into an epic one. He puts entertainment in every line.” The quality in Rajinikanth, which Akshay Kumar values the most, is his humbleness. Elaborating on the same, the Khiladi actor said, “He is very professional and a very humble man. He is what he is. He comes in front of you just the way he is and that speaks a volume about him.”

Akshay Kumar plays Dr Crow, an ornithologist in the film. The actor revealed that the film delivers an “international message” which is very relevant in the present day. He said, “The film raises this point that the world is not only for humans. Animals and birds are saying, the earth doesn’t only belong to you humans, we are also supposed to be alive here. Just because we can't speak, just because we don’t do anything, don’t take advantage of it, don’t play with nature. That is what the whole idea is.” It is this message, which attracted the actor towards the character, revealed Akshay. He added, “When I heard the screenplay, I realised that I have never heard something like this before. I have done many social films but this was one social film which delivers an international message. After hearing that I got really excited and wondered why hasn’t anyone thought about this before? I was surprised that Mr Shankar, the director of this film came up with this brilliant idea.”

The actor was full of praises for the 2.0 helmer, calling him “one of the best directors of the country.” Talking about Shankar, Akki added, “I didn’t want to miss the chance of working with him and of course ‘the’ Rajinikanth. I would say, Mr Shankar, as a director is equivalent to James Cameron given steroids. For him, everything is larger than life.”

"

Akshay Kumar’s son Aarav is 16. Does he take interest in Bollywood? Is he eager to make a career in cinema? The actor answered, “He is just 16 years old. I would like to let him live his life rather than put pressure or ask him whether he is interested in films. I am not that kind of a father. He, at the moment, is more interested to be with his friends, to enjoy life and study. You know how youngsters are, they like technology and all this. So, I think I’ll let him live.”

Akshay and Twinkle Khanna’s daughter Nitara is 6. Was she scared after watching her father for the first time in his 2.0 avatar? The actor shared that while he was preparing for his 2.0 look for the first time, his family was present along with him. Since Nitara already saw her father’s transformation into the character, she didn’t feel scared. Rather, the 6-year-old enjoyed clicking selfies with her father in his never seen before avatar.

On the work front, Akshay Kumar is currently shooting for period war drama Kesari. In his home production Mission Mangal, the actor will be seen alongside five female actresses Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Nithya Menen. The actor has also finished shooting for his next comedy flick Housefull 4, which is slated to release during Diwali 2019.
