After PM Modi biopic, another controversial movie on demonetisation all set to release

Though the biopic on the life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not manage to reach the silver screens, a movie about his controversial demonetisation policy is all set to reach theatres. 

New Delhi: After Election Commission had stalled the releases of all political biopics such My name is RaGa and PM Modi. Rupesh Paul, who had directed My name is RaGa, has now come out with another controversial movie named The Great Indian Casino. 

The movie is already stirring controversy as it is based on the impacts of PM Narendra Modi’s demonetisation policy. The story revolves around four crooks who use Indian ‘jugad’ to tackle the ‘notebandi’. 

According to reports, the movie has also dedicated to the ‘unknown number of people who died and five million people who lost job’ after demonetisation. The movie features actors like Rajesh Sharma, Asif Basra, Pankaj Beri, Deepraj Rana plays the four Mumbai gangsters and Ameesha Patel. Govind Namdev, Yateen Karyekar, Sanjay Gandhi, Anant Jog, Scarlett Mellish Wilson, Heena Panchal, Nisha Rasaily are the other cast.

Actor Dharmendra launched the movie teaser at Hotel Piccadilly, New Delhi on Friday, April 19. “The movie is a mixed genre of political and neo-noir. It tells a very realistic story of how some smart citizens who took demonetisation as a boon when another one billion people had suffered it ” says producer Chanderkant Sharma who made the movie under the banner Cinemirchi Productions. 

The director Rupesh Paul's last film Kamasutra 3D was most talked about venture till date, which was released in 2015. Paul’s filmography also includes titles like Saint Dracula (2012), What The F (2013) and The Vanishing Act (2015).

He is also a poet, Paul entered film industry with Malayalam movie ‘My Mother’s Laptop’. Later, he made an English short film ‘You Can’t Step Into the Same River Twice’, which was selected in the Cannes Short Film Festival and helmed a film titled Saint Dracula, a bilingual in English and Malayalam.
