Celebs are being grilled for their take on the issue
During the trailer launch of YRF’s Thugs of Hindostan, which features Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Sheikh, media asked the stars about the controversy surrounding Tanushree Dutta and Nana Patekar.
Tanushree is hogging the limelight after her shocking revelations that she had been subjected to sexual harassment in the Indian film industry.
In an interview, she said that actor Nana Patekar had sexually harassed her on the sets of the film Horn OK Pleasss in 2008. She also hit out at choreographer Ganesh Acharya for teaming up against her on the sets of the film.
On Thursday, at the trailer launch of Thugs of Hindostan, reporters asked Bollywood stars Aamir and Amitabh about Tanushree’s allegations.
Responding to the question, Big B said, “Naa toh mera naam Tanushree hai aur naa hee Nana Patekar, kaise uttar do aapko iss sawal ka (Neither my name is Tanushree nor Nana Patekar, how can I answer your question).”
Later, Aamir too was asked to speak on Tanushree’s allegations and he said, “I think, without knowing the veracity of something or the details of something, I don’t think I can comment, it’s not right for me.”
“But I would like to say that whenever something like this does happen, it’s really sad, now if this has happened or not is for people to investigate,” he added.
Both the actors didn’t speak about the controversy and maintained their silence.
Meanwhile, television actor Swastika Mukherjee has also condemned the whole incident and expressed support for Dutta, who is being trolled for sharing her story. "People who are saying why Tanushree Dutta waited 10 years to talk about it are the same people who questioned Zaira Wasim for reporting her harassment late. Then, the same people will ask you to take some time and not create a scene when something really happens to you," she said.
She also added that the incident needs to be investigated before being written off completely. "Just because she was a sex symbol, as far as her choice of films were concerned, doesn't mean she is a fallen woman who is supposedly lying to gain back lost fame," she said.
