The BJP leader and former close aide of Mamata Banerjee has alleged that he was specifically targetted and the search operation was a facade to harass him

Kolkata: In a scene straight out of a Bollywood potboiler, as soon as BJP leader Mukul Roy's car came out of the Kolkata airport zone, a bunch of cops stopped it, asked Roy to step out and reportedly searched the vehicle he was travelling in. He went to Delhi to cast his vote but immediately returned to Bengal with news of violence coming in from different parts.

But guess what the cops found after an intense search operation? Some puffed rice and a packet of biscuit was the sole 'recovery', if one may call it one.

The BJP leader and former close aide of Mamata Banerjee has alleged that he was specifically targetted and the search operation was a facade to harass him.

But the search drama didn't end there. As soon as his car was allowed to move out, barely six and a half kilometres away in around Kaikhali, his vehicle was stopped for the second time. The cops who stopped the car wanted to search the same car once again, which barely a while ago was searched already. Mukul Roy not only protested it but demanded that his car be searched in full media glare. The cops didn't pay heed and searched his car anyway, even as a furious Roy called up media to inform the matter.

No prize for guessing what the cops got after the second search. Well, the same puffed rice and biscuits. Roy's office claim, his bags were also searched, but nothing was found. The police meanwhile have dubbed it as a 'routine check', rubbishing allegations of harassment.

This comes closely in the heels of Mamata Banerjee alleging that BJp leaders are using their security cover to transfer cash in West Bengal, a state where the ruling TMC and the BJP are in a stern and more often than not violent face-off.
