YS Sharmila, sister of YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy was campaigning for her brother at Mangalagiri, when a party supporter tried to steal a ring from her finger with the excuse of shaking her hand
Guntur: YS Sharmila, YSR Congress Party leader and sister of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy from Andhra Pradesh almost lost her ring to a party fan during a public rally held near Mangalagiri in Andhra Pradesh, on March 30.
Sharmila is an ardent supporter of brother Jagan Mohan Reddy and has been actively campaigning for the party since 2012.
She has been busy promoting her brother's name to place him as the next chief minister recently and is campaigning in Andhra Pradesh. During one such public rally, Sharmila was seated on a bus and was shaking hands with the public (mainly YSRCP supporters), when one of the fans tried to snatch the ring from Sharmila's hand. Sharmila struggled to free her hand from the man’s grasp.
However, being a seasoned politician, Sharmila did not make a big issue out of it and continued to smile at supporters.
In the public rally, Sharmila said Rajanna Rajyam (the dreamland of their father Rajashekhar Reddy) would be possible only when Jagan comes to power.
Earlier in 2012, when Sharmila jumped into politics to campaign for her brother, following the death of their father, former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Rajashekhar Reddy, she undertook a padayatra (walkathon) of 14 districts from October 18, 2012 to August 4, 2013. The party won 16 of the 18 assembly seats in the same year.
This time, Jagan, inspired by Sharmila, also undertook a 3000 km walkathon from November 6, 2017 to January 9, 2019 at Ichchapuram, where Sharmila had ended her walkathon.
