Digging into BJP, Congress manifestos: Who is ahead of whom

While the BJP stressed on keywords like development, infrastructure, farmers, technology and youth in its manifesto, the Congress has shown interest in health, education and employment.  Interestingly, the Congress has not mentioned anything related to Hindu or Ram Mandir/temple in its manifesto while on the other hand, BJP's manifestos mention these keywords.

New Delhi: An election manifesto is a roadmap of what a party will work on for the next five years if they are elected to power. Both BJP and Congress have released their manifesto which promises something for every sector of the society. MyNation scans some keywords in BJP’s 48 pages and Congress’ 55 pages’ manifestos to find out focus areas of these parties.

While the BJP stressed on keywords like development, infrastructure, farmers, technology and youth in its manifesto, the Congress has shown interest in health, education and employment.  Interestingly, the Congress has not mentioned anything related to Hindu or Ram Mandir/temple in its manifesto while on the other hand, BJP's manifestos mention these keywords.

Furthermore, BJP has shown its nationalistic ideology and the result of which it has mentioned the word 'nation' 118 times in the manifesto, similarly words like development, infrastructure, technology and security has appeared 80, 38, 29 and 44 respectively.

On the other hand, these keywords like the – nation, development, infrastructure, technology and security appears 96, 24, 22, 25 and 46 times in Congress’s manifesto.

Congress also used words like education, health and job/employment 62, 47 and 61 times respectively. The usage of these key terms by Congress is more than BJP.

BJP again scores more than Congress when it comes to using words like youth and reforms. BJP has used ‘youth’ 20 times in their manifesto while Congress has used it only six times. Similarly, ‘reform’ has appeared 15 times in BJP and just 11 times in Congress manifesto.

Words like ‘economy’ are used 32 times by Congress and 23 times by BJP and the word ‘science’ has got little importance by both Congress and BJP as it has appeared 13 and 8 times respectively.
