Pandit Jasraj among 907 artistes who want you to vote Modi, launch counter strike

The 907 artistes said they believe that the BJP government had delivered a corruption-free system and should be voted back to power. This came as a counter to Naseeruddin Shah and another 615 artistes who had asked the citizens to vote BJP out of power. 

New Delhi: Nine hundred and seven artistes, including bigwigs of Indian classical music and Bollywood stars, have issued a statement appealing voters to vote in favour of the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. 

In the statement, the artistes said, “We, creative artistes and persons belonging to the field of literature appeal to all our fellow citizens to cast their vote and exercise their right to elect the new government. without any pressure and prejudice.”

The artistes said that they believe that the government has delivered a corruption-free system and have developed the nation.

“We believe that during the last five years, India has seen a Govt. that has delivered corruption-free good governance and development-oriented administration. During this period, globally India has acquired greater respect. It is our firm conviction that the continuance of government. led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the need of the hour,” read the statement.

Recently, on April 5, over 600 theatre artistes including Naseeruddin Shah, issued a joint statement appealing to citizens to vote the BJP out of power. 

The statement read, “vote against the BJP and its allies” and to vote for a secular, democratic and inclusive India. “Vote to empower the weakest, protect liberty, protect the environment, and foster scientific thinking,”

Some prominent artistes who issued the statement were: Amol Palekar, Anurag Kashyap, Dolly Thakore, Lillete Dubey, Naseeruddin Shah, Abhishek Majumdar, Anamika Haksar, Navtej Johar, MK Raina, Mahesh Dattani, Konkona Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak Shah and Sanjna Kapoor.
