Mumbai: In Maharashtra's Buldhana district, at least 90 stray dogs were found dead with their muzzles and legs tied. The body of the dogs were found on Thursday(September 5) in a forest area in Buldhana.
Police found 100 dogs thrown on the forest area and among them, 90 were identified to be dead and others alive. The incident came to light after foul odour began emanating from decomposing carcasses.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 and Indian Penal Code was registered on Sunday (September 8) against unidentified killers of the strays on a complaint lodged by a forest guard.
According to officials, the exact cause of the death of the canines will be known only after they receive the postmortem report. Police also suspect the strays were picked up from the city, killed, and their carcasses dumped in the forest area. The authorities are also questioning the dog catchers for more information.
