World Cup 2019: Virat Kohli says ‘doing it since the early 90s’ and fans can’t keep calm

After thanking the fans post the World Cup 2019 victory against Pakistan, Virat Kohli on Monday afternoon (June 17), tweeted a picture from the game and juxtaposed it with his childhood photo. The poses were similar and the Delhi right-hander captioned it “Doing it since the early 90s!”.

Manchester: India captain Virat Kohli, after leading the team to a memorable triumph against Pakistan at the ICC World Cup 2019 on Sunday (June 16), celebrated with a throwback picture which fans are loving it.

At the Old Trafford stadium in Manchester, India demolished Pakistan by 89 runs via a the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method to keep their unbeaten World Cup record against their neighbours intact. Now, India have beaten their arch rivals seven times in as many outings, since 1992.

It was a much-hyped match but it did not live up to the expectations. India made it a lopsided affair with Rohit Sharma dazzling with the willow with a fine knock of 140.

During the match, Kohli is seen looking skywards and in the throwback picture, it is the same. The India-Pakistan contest was affected by rain and in the image, the world’s number one ODI batsman seems to be check the weather.

Talking about the match, it was a complete domination by India. After being sent into bat by Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, the ‘men in blue’ posted 336/5 in 50 overs. In reply, the opposition were set a revised target due to rain and they could only muster 212/6 in 40 overs.

The only worry for India during the contest was the injury to paceman Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He was off the field after delivering only 2.4 overs for eight runs. He has been confirmed to miss at least three matches due to tightness in his left hamstring.

This is the second injury concern for India after Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out with a thumb fracture. Rishabh Pant is already in England as a cover.
