Birmingham: Former Pakistan captain Waqar Younis has questioned India’s sportsmanship after Virat Kohli and his men lost to hosts England at the ICC World Cup 2019 on Sunday (June 30).
Pakistan’s semi-final chances hinged on India’s victory in Birmingham. However with India’s 31-run loss, their first in the 10-team tournament, Pakistan’s fate is almost sealed.

Waqar took to the micro-blogging site to say that “sportsmanship of few champions got test and they failed badly”. This was referring to Kohli and his men as he used India-England match hashtags.

“It's not who you are.. What you do in life defines who you are.. Me not bothered if Pakistan gets to the semis or not but one thing is for sure.. Sportsmanship of few Champions got tested and they failed badly #INDvsEND #CWC2019 (sic),” Waqar tweeted on Monday (July 1).

— Waqar Younis (@waqyounis99)This is not the first time a former Pakistan player has questioned India. Basit Ali, the former batsman had claimed that India may deliberately lose to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. India face Bangladesh tomorrow (July 2).
"India will never want Pakistan to reach the semi-finals. They have matches remaining against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Everybody saw how India won against Afghanistan," Basit said during a talk show in ARY News.
Before the match, former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, through his YouTube channel, had asked India to help Pakistan qualify for the semi-final.
"Now, India will have to help Pakistan. How? If they win their one match against England, then England will be knocked out and Pakistan will qualify for the semi-finals with 11 points," Akhtar said.
"I feel that Pakistan has made a good comeback. But, now, India wake up. Now you will have to help us. Defeat England, and we will win our two matches and so we can face you in the semi-finals and defeat you," he added.
