"It's still not the end. I still have a few games to go. Maybe another series to go as well. Who knows, we will see what happens. My plans after the World Cup? I will maybe play a Test match against India, and then I will play, definitely play the ODIs against India, I won't play the T20s. That is my plan after the World Cup,” Gayle told reporters in the pre-match press conference on Wednesday (June 26).

Before the World Cup, Gayle had said he would bid adieu to ODIs. But now the “Universe Boss” has done an U-turn on that.

"Yes, I'm looking to draw the line after the World Cup. Or should I say cut the string? Definitely, in 50-over cricket, the World Cup is the end for me. I'll let the youngsters have some fun and I can sit back in the party stand and watch them have some fun," the explosive opener had said in February.

West Indies are almost out of the reckoning for a semi-final berth at the World Cup 2019.

On their tour to the West Indies, India play three T20Is, three ODIs and two Tests. The first match (T20I) is on August 3. The ODIs begin on August 8. The Test series commences on August 22.

The 39-year-old Gayle has played 103 Tests, 295 ODIs and 58 T20Is. He made his international debut in September 1999.
