The India-Pakistan quarterfinal of the 1996 cricket World Cup in Bengaluru saw a high-octane clash between Indian bowler Venkatesh Prasad and Pakistani batsman Aamer Sohail.

Bengaluru: 24 years ago, when India took on rivals Pakistan in the 1996 World Cup quarterfinal in Bengaluru, everyone left their job and watched the match.
It was indeed a humdinger!

The match also saw a high-octane situation in which Indian bowler Venkatesh Prasad and Pakistan batsman Aamer Sohail were involved.

After dispatching Prasad to the boundary, Sohail looked at him and warned him that he would dispatch such loose balls.

But in the very next ball, Venkatesh Prasad sent him back to the pavilion, thus exacting sweet revenge.

Batting first, India scored a challenging 287/8, propelled a magnificent 93 by opener Navjot Singh Sidhu.

Chasing the total, Pakistan put up a robust opening partnership with 84 on the board for the first wicket.

But going on, Indian bowlers were too good for the Pakistani batsmen as they eventually folded up at 248/9, handing over India a victory by 39 runs.

Here are the other highlights of the match as mentioned by ESPN Cricinfo:
