New Zealand tour: India ODI squad announced; Shikhar Dhawan ruled out

India's ODI squad has been announced for the tour of New Zealand. Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan is injured and is not part of the squad. The left-hander is out of T20Is too. Who are his replacements in both squads? Find out here

Mumbai: Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I and ODI series against New Zealand. Dhawan suffered a fall and hurt his left shoulder while trying to stop a ball during the third ODI against Australia in Bengaluru on Sunday (January 19).

The selectors have recalled Sanju Samson in place of Dhawan for T20Is. In the ODI squad, Dhawan has been replaced by Prithvi Shaw, who recently hit a 100-ball 150 in New Zealand.

“An MRI of his shoulder was conducted, and the results have confirmed a grade II injury of his acromio-clavicular joint. His hand will be in a sling and he has been advised rest for some time. He will start his active rehab management in the first week of February at the National Cricket Academy (NCA),” the Board of Control for Cricket in India said in a media advisory on Tuesday night (January 21).

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Sanju Samson as Dhawan’s replacement in the T20I series and Prithvi Shaw for the ODI series,” it added.
