India are set to host West Indies in T20Is and ODIs starting from December 6. BCCI’s chief selector MSK Prasad had said they had “moved on” from Dhoni.
With ICC T20 World Cup to be played in Australia next year, India head coach Ravi Shastri had said Dhoni’s inclusion in the squads will depend on his form in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Talking about his memorable moments, Dhoni recalled the reception the team received in Mumbai after winning the ICC World T20 in South Africa in 2007.
“I want to talk about two moments. First is when we returned to India after the 2007 T20 World Cup. During our open bus trip, we were at Marine drive and all the sides were jam-packed. It was so nice to see the smile that all the people had on their faces at that time,” Dhoni, who retired from Test cricket in 2004, said.
“The second instance is the World Cup 2011 final when 15-20 runs were remaining and the people started chanting 'Vande Matram' in the Wankhede Stadium. So, these two moments are very difficult to replicate and they are very close to my heart,” he added.
