'I spoke with (Mohammed) Shami bhai yesterday (Saturday). There are some similarities between him and me since we both use the seam. I have seen him bowl a lot of times and I paid extra attention to how he was bowling,' Abu Jayed said ahead of India-Bangladesh day/night Test in Kolkata

Kolkata: India fast bowler Mohammed Shami has helped Bangladesh paceman Abu Jayed with bowing tips after the first Test between the sides at Indore’s Holkar Stadium.

The Virat Kohli-led India hammered the visitors by an innings and 130 runs to go 1-0 up in the two-match series. Now, the action shifts to Kolkata for the historic day/night Test from November 22.

Ahead of the game, Jayed revealed that he spoke to Shami and he is seeking inspiration from the Indian speedster.

“I spoke with Shami bhai yesterday (November 16). There are some similarities between him and me since we both use the seam. I have seen him bowl a lot of times and I paid extra attention to how he was bowling. I have compared his height to mine to find out if he is taller than me or of equal height. Then I figured maybe I could bowl like him,” Jayed was quoted as saying on the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) website on Monday (November 18).

The 26-year-old Jayed took four wickets — Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane. He could have had five but Imrul Kayes dropped Mayank Agarwal’s catch and the opener hit a career-best 243.

On that catch, the right-arm bowler said, “It's not frustrating; I don't bother about missed chances too much. I believe it's part of cricket. I do accept that catches are supposed to be held on to but one can't change the past by thinking about it. If I keep thinking about the missed chances it will affect me adversely.”

He added that getting Kohli dismissed LBW for a duck was dream come true.

“That's why I try to create more chances at times like these because they might take those ones. For example, Saif took a great catch which dismissed Pujara, it is also a part of cricket. It was an amazing feeling to dismiss the two best batsmen of our times. Getting Virat Kohli's wicket was like a dream come true,” he said.
