Australian cricket legend Ian Chappell has hailed Virat Kohli as the best batsman in the world at the moment

Bengaluru: Praising the Indian captain for his “tremendous feat” in Twenty20 Internationals, former Australian skipper Ian Chappell declared Virat Kohli as the best batsman in the world across the three formats, at the moment.

The 31-year-old Kohli averages above 50 in all three formats of the game. He has so far scored 70 international centuries (43 in ODIs, 27 in Tests). Chappell said the Delhi right-hander's records in Tests, ODIs and T20Is are “incredible”.

“India has had some pretty good batsmen but the comment I made was over the three formats. I was basically asked Steve Smith or Virat Kohli and I said over the three formats you can't pick ahead of Kohli. I mean his record in all three formats is incredible. And, how he averages over 50 in Twenty20 cricket, is a tremendous feat. So, in my opinion, if you are talking about all three formats, Kohli is the best batsman at the moment,” Chappell said on Sony Ten’s “Pit Stop” from Sydney on Friday (May 8).
