Melbourne: Former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been named as the skipper of the ODI team of the decade, picked by Cricket Australia (CA).

On Tuesday (December 24), CA, on its website, unveiled the “Best XI” of the 2010s and there are three Indians in it. Dhoni is the wicketkeeper of the team and the leader of the line-up.

The other two Indians who made the cut are current captain Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma. However, there is no place for fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah.

Rohit is the opener along with South African Hashim Amla. During the 2010s, Rohit smashed three double centuries in the 50-over format. He has emerged as one of the best in the limited-overs formats.

Like Rohit, Kohli too is a modern ODI great. He has shattered several records and continues to rule the game. The 31-year-old has scored 43 ODI hundreds in 242 ODIs.

Dhoni is currently not part of the Indian limited-overs teams. Yesterday (December 23), the squads were announced for the home series against Sri Lanka and Australia. There is still no clarity over Dhoni's future. Last month, he had told the media to wait till January when asked about his international career. The wicketkeeper-batsman, one of the greatest captains, took India to World Cup glory in 2011.

Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Kan too has found a place and so is Sri Lankan paceman Lasith Malinga. Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is also picked.
