Coronavirus lockdown: Yuzvendra Chahal donates money to help abandoned horses, donkeys in Uttarakhand

During the lockdown due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has donated money to help horses, donkeys in Uttarakhand

Bengaluru: Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has contributed money to help the abandoned horses and donkeys in Uttarakhand during the nationwide lockdown due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

According to People For Animals India, India leg-spinner Chahal has contributed Rs 50,000. Donations are being accepted online and the Indian spinner is one of the top donors as on Monday (May 4).

People For Animals Uttarakhand thanked Chahal for his generosity. It wrote, “On behalf of our entire team at People for Animals Uttarakhand, we thank you for your generous donation towards our cause. Your support means a great deal to us and it will help us in saving many more voiceless souls.

“We cannot thank you enough for your love and generosity and we hope others too share the same generosity towards our cause.”

On the donation page, it is written, “During the crisis of COVID -19 lockdown, a large number of horses and donkeys in Uttarakhand which were used for mining, tourism and pilgrimage are suffering a lot due to abandonment and starvation.

“People For Animals Uttarakhand is working towards this welfare and setting up a Rehabilitation Center for the same. Being a ‘no-tie’ shelter (wherein animals are never tied & free to roam in their designated spaces), the organization places the utmost importance on the need for ensuring a stress-free environment to aid the health and recuperation, welfare and rehabilitation requirements of equines in our care. Let us all join our hands is providing a better environment to them and let them move freely."
