'(Virat) Kohli is the captain of India, he is the most important man in Indian cricket. I will speak to him tomorrow. We will support him,' BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said

Mumbai: Former skipper Sourav Ganguly, who took charge as the new president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday (October 23), said India captain Virat Kohli is the “most important man” in Indian cricket and he will get all the support.

At the General Body Meeting in Mumbai, Ganguly was elected unopposed as the president of BCCI. He was only one who had filed the nomination for the post. Along with Ganguly, other office bearers were also elected.

Addressing the media after taking charge at the BCCI headquarters, Ganguly praised the Indian team led by Kohli and assured full support.

“Kohli is the captain of India, he is the most important man in Indian cricket. I will speak to him tomorrow. We will support him,” Ganguly said.

Ganguly said he will be meeting Kohli tomorrow (October 24) as the MSK Prasad-led selection committee will meet in Mumbai to pick the T20I squad for the three-match home series against Bangladesh.

With Kohli suggesting that India should have only five Test centres, Ganguly said he will have a discussion with the skipper.

“We have a lot of states, lot of venues, we will have to sit with him and see what he wants,” Ganguly said.
