Kolkata: After a court issued an arrest warrant against India fast bowler Mohammed Shami, his wife Hasin Jahan has said the cricketer thinks “he is all too powerful”.
On Monday (September 2), a court in Alipore, West Bengal, had issued an arrest warrant against Shami in domestic violence case. He has 15 days to surrender and apply for bail.

When the court order came, Shami was playing for India in the second and final Test of the series against the West Indies. India defeated the hosts by 257 runs to make a 2-0 clean sweep in Kingston, Jamaica.
During the match, Shami completed 150 Test wickets. He is set to return to India in a couple of days as the Caribbean tour has ended with the Test matches. Earlier, India had played T20Is and ODIs.

Today (September 3), Shami’s wife Hasin spoke to news agency ANI and said she was “grateful” to the judicial system.
“I'm grateful to judicial system. I have been fighting for justice more than a year now. You all know, Shami thinks that he is all too powerful, that he is a big cricketer,” she said.
Also, she said that she could “live safely” in West Bengal thanks to chief minister Mamata Banerjee.
“Had I not been from West Bengal, had Mamata Banerjee not been our CM, I wouldn't have been able to live safely here. Amroha (Uttar Pradesh) police was trying to harass me and my daughter, it was God's grace that they didn't succeed,” she said.
Earlier, the 28-year-old Shami had told India Today, "I hope everything remains fine. Whatever is the outcome, I am ready to face it. Cricket life mein hai to sab kuch hai (cricket remains everything in life). That is the only thing I am bothered about. I don't care about the allegations or what will happen eventually. Right now, I am not thinking even zero percent about it. I won't let it affect me."
