PM Narendra Modi movie producer Sandip Ssingh has called out at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleging that people are unable to express their freedom of speech in the state.
Mumbai: On Tuesday, BJP Youth wing leader Priyanka Sharma was granted unconditional bail by the apex court and asked to tender a written apology for sharing a meme on Mamata Banerjee. Soon after the news of her bail broke, Sandip took to Twitter to call out at the CM. Tagging Mamata Banerjee’s official Twitter handle, he wrote, “Is freedom of speech too much to ask for in your state?” and urged her to “stop being the Female Dawood of Bengal.” Sandeep also expressed his support for Priyanka Sharma.
Didi finally your ego has lost. Is freedom of speech too much to ask for in your state? We all stand by Priyanka Sharma. Please stop being the Female Dawood of Bengal 🙏 pic.twitter.com/6N5PDC6Mot

BJP Youth wing leader Priyanka Sharma was arrested last week for sharing a morphed image of Mamata Banerjee on Facebook. Priyanka had shared an image of actress Priyanka Chopra at the MET Gala but had superimposed Mamata’s face over the image.
On Tuesday, A vacation bench consisting Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice Sanjiv Khanna said, “Subject to Priyanka Sharma tendering an apology in writing for putting up an objectionable picture on Facebook account, she shall be immediately released. At the time of release, she shall tender an apology in writing.” Priyanka’s lawyer Neeraj Kishan Kaul said that she was being made to apologise only because she was a part of BJP and not because of the meme itself.
This is not the first time someone is facing action for mocking the West Bengal CM on social media. In 2012, Jadavpur University professor Ambikesh Mahapatra was arrested for circulating an email having a cartoon of Mamata Banerjee.
On the work front, Sandip’s latest production PM Narendra Modi, which is a biopic on the prime minister, is slated to hit theatres on May 24. Along with Sandeep, the film has also been produced by Suresh Oberoi and Anand Pandit. The Omung Kumar directorial stars Vivek Oberoi as Narendra Modi.
