Prashant Narayanan, who played a psychopath in Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer Murder 2, is in jail with his wife
Prashant Narayanan became popular through Ekta Kapoor's TV soap, Bandini. Later he got the opportunity to star in Mohit Suri's movie Murder 2. He is now arrested and is in jail following his alleged involvement in a cheating case, said a Kerala police official.
According to reports, the actor and his wife Shona was charged under section 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Prashant Narayanan is currently lodged in Thalassery jail. The actor, along with his wife, was arrested by the Kerala Police on September 4. This arrest was made after a film producer filed a case against him for allegedly cheating him of Rs 1.20 crore, said the police.
Inspector A Prathap told a news agency, "The case pertains to cheating. The complainant is Thomas Panicker, who was the producer of a Malayalam film, in which Narayanan acted in 2017. After the film the two became close and Panicker was told that his wife's father had a company in Mumbai and if he invested in it, he would be made a director."
He further revealed, "Panicker invested Rs 1.20 crore and after that, he came to know he was cheated. He then filed the complaint."
Who is Prashant Narayanan?
Born in Kerala and brought up in Delhi, Prashant bagged his first film role in 2002 in Hansal Mehta's Chhal. The actor even starred in films down south and is known for Bollywood films like Murder 2, Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II amongst others.
