The whole nation supports the wrestler and several celebrities and politicians have also come forward to pay respect to Vinesh and her hard work. Hema Malini was also asked about the disqualification of Vinesh Phogat over 100 gm overweight in the 50 Kg category. However, the internet is not pleased with the statements by Hema Malini and requests the actress-turned-politician to 'stop speaking'.
Talking to the PTI, Hema Malini said, "It is very surprising and bada ajeeb sa bhi lagta hain ki 100 gm ki wajah se woh disqualify ho gayi. Kitna mehatwa hain apna weight aur wazan ko theek se rakhna! Hum sab ko isse ek achha seekh milna chahiye sab kalakaro ko, mahilayon ko sabko… ki 100 gm also matters a lot! We feel very sad for her. I wish she loses that 100 grams quickly lekin milega nahi abhi (It is very surprising, and it feels strange that she was disqualified for being 100 gm overweight. It is important to keep the weight in check. It is a lesson for all of us. I wish she should lose that 100 gm quickly but she would not get an opportunity).”

The video has several comments from X (formerly Twitter) users expressing their displeasure and trolling Hema Malini for her comments. One user wrote, "These so called Bollywood celebrities are brainless to the core. They are so vain and self immersed that they think that 50.1 kg is "overweight" in general and thats why Vinesh Phogat got disqualified. Took it as an opportunity to preach about weight watching for women & artists. Shameful and appalling."
