The National Award winning actress also recalled an award ceremony where she had once said "I don't want to thank anyone" after receiving an honour.

Mumbai: Tabu is one of the most versatile actors Bollywood has ever witnessed. She has tried her hands at various genres and nailed the roles with perfection. She experimented with genres and characters much before her contemporaries started doing so and has tasted success due to her talent and hard work.

During an interaction with My Nation recently, the Padma Shri actress was questioned on her take on awards, to which Tabu replied, “Which awards? There are so many.” When told that we were referring to the various stage awards happening everywhere, she quipped with a smile, “Stage awards or staged awards?” and added, “I don’t know, I have nothing to say. I am sure it feels great for anybody who wins an award. But finally, I think everyone knows when they deserve it and when they don’t.”

Recently, Rakhi Sawant made headlines after being honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation Award for 'Best Item Dancer in Bollywood'. Rakhi winning this prestigious honour left netizens in shock as they found it extremely difficult to believe it.

As the conversation progressed, Tabu recalled an award show where she had said, “I don’t want to thank anyone” after receiving an award. When asked why she had said that, the actress replied, “Yes, I had said that and I really meant it. We get bored of listening to so many thank yous you know.  So, I felt, can I not thank anybody for this award?”

On the work front, Tabu’s latest release De De Pyaar De is going strong at the box office and has collected Rs 56.57 crores till Wednesday. De De Pyaar De also stars Ajay Devgn, with whom Tabu shares an important part of her Bollywood journey. Their jodi became popular with their very first film Vijaypath and then there was no looking back. Tabu and Ajay’s jodi has gifted us films like Haqeeqat, Thakshak, Drishyam, Fitoor, Golmaal Again and now De De Pyaar De. On working with one of her best buddies, Ajay Devgn in their latest flick De De Pyaar De, Tabu said, “We felt we were still there only, nothing has changed. We have not changed as people, the way he looks has not changed at all. He still looks the same except his hairstyle. So, it felt we were back in our Vijaypath days.”

When quizzed on her unconventional choice of roles throughout her career spanning 37 years, the actress said, “I have been lucky.” Would she call it luck or choice? “It’s a combination of many factors, I think. You will choose from what you are offered but then what you are being offered is also triggered by what you have chosen. So, you don’t know murgi pehle ayee ki anda, (whether the chicken came first or the egg)” concluded the 47-year-old.

Tabu will soon be seen in a cameo role in Salman Khan’s Bharat.
