Smriti Mandhana has scored 1951 runs in 50 ODIs at an average of over 42.

She belongs to a family of cricketers. Her father and brother played district level cricket for Sangli. She decided to become a cricketer after watching her brother play in the Maharashtra State Under-16 tournament.

Smriti was just 9 years old when she was selected for the Maharashtra Under-15 team at the district level match. 

In 2007, she was selected for Maharashtra Under-19 cricket team. 

Her first breakthrough was in October 2013, when she became the first Indian women cricketer to score a double century in a one-day game.

Playing for the Maharashtra team against Gujarat, she scored 224 off 150 balls in the West Zone Under-19 Tournament at the Alembic Cricket Ground, Vadodara.

Smriti’s Test debut

In August 2014, Smriti Mandhana made her Test debut against England at Wormsley Park.

In September 2016, Brisbane Heat signed her for Women’s Big Bash League after which she became one of the first two Indian women to play in that tournament. Harmanpreet Kaur is the second female player to play in the Women's Big Bash League.

Smriti in World Cup team

Smriti was part of the Indian team in the final match of the 2017 Women's Cricket World Cup. India lost to England with nine runs. 

After recovering from an injury, Smriti returned to the team to play for the 2017 World Cup.

In June 2018, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named her as the Best Women International Cricketer.

In the year 2018, she was awarded the ‘Rachel Heyhoe-Flint Award’ for the Best Female Cricketer of the Year by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

In June 2018, Smriti signed for Kia Super League defending champions Western Storm and became the first Indian to play in that league.

Becoming a captain

In February 2019, she was appointed as the captain of the Indian women's T20I team for three matches against England.

She became the youngest T20I captain of the Indian women's cricket team when she led the women's team against England in the first T20I match in Guwahati.

In the year 2019 she won the 'CEAT International Cricket Award' and 'International Women Cricketer of the Year Award'.

In 2019, Smriti was featured on the cover page of women's ‘Cric Zone’ magazine.

In January 2020, she was selected for India's team for the 2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Australia.

‘Player of the Year’

She was named the 'ICC Women's T20 Player of the Year' on 30 December 2021.

In August 2021, she was included in India's Test team for the match against Australia. She scored her first century in Test cricket in the first innings of the match.

In January 2022, ICC again honoured her with the ‘Rachel Heyhoe-Flint Award’ for Women's Cricketer of the Year.

In the year 2022, she was included in India's team for the New Zealand Women's Cricket World Cup.

She was appointed as the vice-captain of the Indian team for the cricket tournament at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

In the year 2019, Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis honoured her with the ‘Nav Bharat Times Award’. 

On 16 July 2019, she was honoured with the ‘Arjuna Award’ by Kiren Rijiju, Minister of Law and Justice in the Government of India. 

She was also awarded the ‘Indian Cricket Heroes Awards’ in London. 

She was honoured with the ‘Young Achievers Award’ during an event in Dubai.
