At the age of 11, he was selected to play for the Under-16 Punjab cricket team at the district level. This was his first series where he made a record by scoring 330 runs in five matches.
In the year 2014, he scored more than 200 runs in his first Vijay Merchant Trophy in Under-16 Punjab state level match.
Shubman scored 351 runs in the Punjab Cricket Tournament Inter District Under-16 ML Markan Trophy and made a world record partnership of 587 runs with Nirmal Singh at the district level.
Award by BCCI
In 2014, he was awarded the MA Chidambaram Trophy as the best Under-16 cricketer by BCCI.
In the year 2017, he became the fourth youngest player to score a first-class century in Ranji Trophy for Punjab.
The same year, he was selected in India's Under-19 cricket team. He played his first match against England in the Youth ODI series. He became ‘Man of the Series’ by scoring 351 runs.
He was also the vice-captain for the Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2018.
IPL matches
In the year 2018, he became a part of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 1.8 crore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction.
While playing cricket, he always keeps a red handkerchief in his pocket.
Presently, Shubman Gill plays for the Indian Male Cricket team.
