She won a bronze medal at the Junior World Championship.
Sakshi made the whole nation proud when she won a silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
In May 2016, she qualified for the Rio Olympics after defeating China's Zhang Lan in the Olympic World Qualifying Tournament.
On 17 August 2016, she won the bronze medal at the Rio Olympics by defeating Kazakhstan's Aisuluu Tynybekova. She became the first Indian female wrestler and the fourth female athlete from India to win a medal at the Olympics.
In 2022, Sakshi Malik won her first gold medal at the Commonwealth Games after defeating Canada's Ana Godinez Gonzalez in the final round of the women's freestyle 62 kg event.
In 2016, Sakshi was awarded with Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Puraskar.
Sakshi was honoured with the Padma Shri Award in the year 2017.
Fight for a cause
Sakshi Malik along with Vinesh Phogat and other international players accused Brij Bhushan Singh (a member of the Lok Sabha) of sexual and mental harassment. The wrestlers protested for the imprisonment of the accused at Jantar Mantar.
