Rajat Kapoor is an Indian actor, writer, director, and producer. In the year 1983, he made his debut with the film ‘Mandi’. Some of the films that Rajat Kapoor has worked in are, Apna Asmaan (2007), Waiting (2015), Midnight’s Children (2012), and Khoya Khoya Chand (2007).

Rajat Kapoor is an Indian actor, writer, director, and producer. He was born on 11 February 1961 in Delhi. His zodiac sign is Aquarius. He studied at Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. 

He is married to Meenal Agrawal; she is a photographer and production designer. They are parents to Vivaan Kapoor and Rabiya Kapoor. 

Interesting facts about Rajat Kapoor 

When he was 14, he had a fascination with movies and desired to become a filmmaker. 

In the year 1983, he joined ‘Chingari’, a theatre group in Delhi.  

The same year, he played a minor role of a politician’s son in the film ‘Mandi’.

In 1985, Rajat relocated to Pune to learn acting skills from Film and Television Institute of India. 

Rajat Kapoor’s debut

In the year 1989, he was seen in the film ‘Khayal Gatha’. 

In 2001 film ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, he played the role of Preity Zinta’s uncle. After this project, he received many acting offers. 

For his directorial debut, Rajat Kapoor collected funds from his friends and well-wishers. His film ‘Raghu Romeo’ was a flop at the box-office, however, it received the National Award for Best Hindi Feature Film. His film was also screened at Plaza Grande Section of Switzerland. 

Rajat has been awarded the National Award for his other two films ‘Tarana’ and ‘Hypothesis’.
