Burj Al-Babas, a beautiful, haunted, but deserted city, is located in Bolu, the northwestern province of Turkey. Once conceived as a magical abode reminiscent of a Disney film, this ambitious project spread over 250 acres. It cost £160 million, but today it stands as a testament to broken dreams and lost fortunes.

Construction of Burj Al Baba began in 2014 to create a luxury escape with fairy-tale-style residences, malls, slides, and rivers, along with a water park, pools, bathhouses, and saunas. The prospect of owning a home in a beautiful setting had captured the imagination.

Initially, progress looked promising, with construction 60% complete. However, the project suffered a major setback when the construction company overseeing its development was forced to declare bankruptcy.
Plans to sell luxury homes priced between £275,574 and £394,741 have been scrapped due to a collapse in sales, leaving the town in a state of disrepair.

Sarot Properties Group Chairman Mehmet Emin Yerdelen revealed the sad reality behind the project's collapse. Despite successful initial results, the company struggled to collect £5,585,662 in collections from luxury property buyers in the Gulf, ultimately leading to financial ruin.

Today, Burj Al Babas stands as a haunting reminder of what could have been. Its streets, once bustling with life, were now eerily quiet, with only the occasional tourist marveling at the abandoned beauty. Locals and tourists tell stories about the city that once promised this destiny, attracted by its otherworldly beauty.

As the sun sets over deserted rooftops and deserted streets, Burj Al Babas stands as a poignant reminder of the fragility of dreams and the harsh realities of economic uncertainty. Although it never fulfilled its intended purpose, the city's legacy remains one of ambition. It stands as a cautionary tale, even in adverse circumstances.

The settlement of Burj Al Babas remains deserted, as do the gorgeous houses. The only people who come here are locals and a few visitors who roam about the region to wonder at the abandoned building.
